Leaders from France, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Ukraine are scheduled to meet to discuss various topics, primarily efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war. Reports indicate that the talks will focus on maintaining military and political aid to Ukraine and diplomatic initiatives aimed at bringing the war to an end.
French President Emmanuel Macron, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy are expected to meet in London today. According to a statement from the Élysée Palace, they will discuss continuing support for Ukraine and assess recent developments in the region.
The sources added that Zelensky wants European leaders to step up their efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war. However, it was reported that the details of the meeting have not yet been finalized, that changes may occur in the leaders’ schedules, and that the meeting time could be revised. According to the current plan, the meeting is planned to take place on this evening, UK time.
Meanwhile, Russian Deputy President and Kremlin adviser Yuri Ushakov announced that public and private contacts between Russia and Ukraine are still ongoing. In his assessment on a television program, Ushakov said that negotiations between the two countries are continuing through various channels.
Tensions on the ground, however, persist. Ukrainian authorities announced that a Russian unmanned aerial vehicle attacked a depleted nuclear fuel storage facility near the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. In separate statements by the Ukrainian General Staff and the State Nuclear Energy Agency, it was reported that no increase in radiation levels was observed following the attack and that no one was injured in the incident.
