President Donald Trump’s Labor Day proclamation designated Sept. 7, 2026, as Labor Day, calling on U.S. public officials and residents to observe the holiday with programs, ceremonies, and activities honoring working Americans.

In the White House proclamation, Trump said his administration has sought to support workers and families through economic, manufacturing, and innovation policies.

Labor Day Proclamation Highlights Economic Policy Claims

The Labor Day proclamation said the administration had made tax cuts permanent through legislation it called the Working Families Tax Cuts Act, including a permanent 20% deduction for qualified small-business income. It also said companies were returning to the United States, investing trillions of dollars and adding more than 900,000 jobs.

Trump further credited protective tariffs and trade deals with shielding U.S. workers from foreign competition and said American manufacturing had expanded for six consecutive months. He said the administration was proposing a new fee on H-1B visa petitions to encourage employers to consider qualified U.S. workers before hiring overseas labor.

Those economic, employment, manufacturing, and policy assertions are the administration’s claims in the proclamation; independent verification was not available from the supplied material. The document was dated Sept. 4 and proclaimed by Trump in his capacity as president.
