GAC August exports reached 26,978 vehicles, up 177% from a year earlier, according to a company sales update.
GAC Group (HKEX: 2238) said exports of its own brands totaled 172,008 vehicles from January through August, an increase of 136% over the comparable period. Cumulative overseas shipments were approaching 600,000 units.
GAC August Exports Reflect Gains Across Multiple Regions
The automaker reported a 93% year-over-year increase in end-market sales across the Americas and a 24% increase in Southeast Asia. Within that region, it cited gains of 283% in the Philippines, 89% in Singapore, 27% in Thailand and 24% in Indonesia.
Africa was the company’s fastest-growing international region during August, with retail sales up 881% from a year earlier. GAC also announced a local-production agreement in Egypt and market entry in Ghana.
European retail sales increased 93% from July, according to the release, including gains in the United Kingdom, Portugal and Poland. Because several percentages compare with relatively small regional bases, growth rates do not by themselves indicate GAC’s absolute market position.
The export and sales figures were reported by the company and were not accompanied by audited financial results in the announcement.
