Uber CEO Stock Purchase Reaches About $10 Million

The Uber CEO stock purchase totaled approximately $10 million after Dara Khosrowshahi acquired 141,000 common shares in the open market. Uber Technologies (NYSE: UBER) disclosed the transaction in a regulatory filing.

The shares were purchased on September 10 at a weighted-average price of $70.9642. A weighted average means individual purchases may have been completed at different prices during the trading session.

Uber CEO Stock Purchase Signals Personal Capital Commitment

Open-market insider buying can attract investor attention because an executive is committing personal funds rather than receiving equity as compensation. It does not, however, guarantee future share-price gains or reveal the company’s next quarterly results.

The transaction details appear in Khosrowshahi’s official SEC Form 4 filing. The document identifies the trade as a purchase of common stock and reports the number of shares and weighted-average price.

The Uber CEO stock purchase may be interpreted as a vote of confidence, but investors will still weigh ride volume, delivery growth, autonomous-vehicle partnerships, regulation and free cash flow. Those operating factors and execution trends are more likely to determine the company’s long-term valuation.
