The September U.S. employment report, August PCE inflation and a dense group of activity indicators lead the weekly market calendar for September 28 through October 2.
All U.S. release times below are Eastern Time.
Weekly Market Calendar: Key U.S. Data Releases
Monday, September 28: No top-tier scheduled U.S. economic release. The quieter calendar leaves markets focused on positioning before the week’s labor and inflation data.
Tuesday, September 29 — 10:00 a.m. ET: The Bureau of Labor Statistics publishes August Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey data. Openings, hiring and quits will provide a read on labor demand before Friday’s payroll report.
Wednesday, September 30 — 8:30 a.m. ET: The Bureau of Economic Analysis releases August personal income and outlays, including the PCE price indexes, alongside the third estimate of second-quarter GDP and revised corporate profits under its official schedule.
Wednesday — 10:30 a.m. ET: The Energy Information Administration issues its weekly U.S. petroleum inventories. Crude, gasoline and distillate balances can move oil prices when they diverge sharply from expectations.
Thursday, October 1 — 8:30 a.m. ET: The Labor Department’s weekly initial jobless claims provide the final high-frequency labor signal before payrolls.
Thursday — 10:00 a.m. ET: September manufacturing PMI arrives under the ISM release calendar, while the Census Bureau publishes August construction spending.
Thursday — 10:30 a.m. ET: EIA releases its weekly natural-gas storage figures.
Friday, October 2 — 8:30 a.m. ET: The September Employment Situation supplies nonfarm payrolls, unemployment and wage growth, making it the week’s principal U.S. macro event.
Micron and Nike Lead the Earnings Watch
Micron Technology (NASDAQ: MU) reports fiscal fourth-quarter results Wednesday, with its call scheduled for 4:30 p.m. ET. Memory pricing, high-bandwidth memory demand and capital spending will be central to the outlook.
Conagra Brands (NYSE: CAG) holds its fiscal first-quarter earnings call Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. ET. Nike (NYSE: NKE) follows with fiscal first-quarter results on Thursday, adding consumer-demand and margin signals to the week’s macro releases.
The most concentrated market window is Wednesday morning, when PCE inflation and revised GDP arrive together. Friday’s jobs report then provides the clearest test of whether labor demand is cooling enough to alter expectations for the Federal Reserve’s next policy steps.
