Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ismail Bekayi announced that the Iranian negotiating delegation had departed Switzerland to return home following intensive discussions on the implementation of the memorandum of understanding signed with the U.S.

Bekayi said in a statement on his social media account that the talks began on the morning of June 21 in the Lake Lucerne region of Switzerland and continued until the early hours of June 22. He added that the talks focused on the implementation of Articles 1, 5, 10, and 11 of the Iran-U.S. Memorandum of Understanding.

According to a joint statement issued following the negotiations between Iran and the U.S.—mediated by Qatar and Pakistan—an agreement was reached to establish a monitoring mechanism to oversee the implementation of the memorandum of understanding. Additionally, it has been decided to continue dialogue at the expert and technical levels to ensure the effective implementation of the agreement aimed at ending the war.

Bekayi stated that, in accordance with Article 13 of the memorandum of understanding, the commencement of negotiations on a final agreement is contingent upon Articles 1, 4, 5, 10, and 11 entering into force and continuing to be implemented.

The Iranian spokesperson said that the agreement reached in this round aims to advance the implementation process, particularly in three critical areas. The first of these is Article 1, which provides for the establishment of a conflict control mechanism involving all parties and Lebanon, and the cessation of Israel’s military operations in Lebanon. The other issues are Article 10, concerning Iran’s oil and petrochemical exports, and Article 11, concerning the release of frozen Iranian assets.

Bekayi also said that Iran would continue to closely monitor whether the other side is complying with its obligations, adding that Tehran would use all means at its disposal to ensure these commitments are implemented.
