The U.S. Navy has awarded contracts totaling nearly $337 million to Lockheed Martin and General Dynamics for upgrades to the presidential helicopter fleet and the procurement of additional Hammerhead systems.
Lockheed Martin received a $107.29 million order covering the design, integration and testing of Power Margin Increment Two main rotor blades for the VH-92A presidential helicopter.
The improved blade design is intended to increase the aircraft’s available power margin and enhance its operational performance. The work, awarded under a previously issued basic ordering agreement, is scheduled for completion in March 2031.
The Navy will obligate $18.42 million in fiscal 2026 research, development, testing and evaluation funding at the time of the award. The order was issued without a competitive bidding process, with Naval Air Systems Command serving as the contracting authority.
Separately, General Dynamics received a $229.66 million modification to an existing contract for 188 additional Hammerhead units and eight sets of specialized support equipment.
Work under the fixed-price incentive modification is expected to be completed by October 2028. The full contract value will be obligated from fiscal 2025 weapons procurement funds, which will remain available beyond the end of the current fiscal year.
The General Dynamics award was also made without competition under provisions of U.S. federal procurement law. Naval Sea Systems Command is overseeing the contract.
