Google has officially unveiled the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, its latest foldable smartphone, with pre-orders opening today ahead of an August 20 retail launch.
The new model is nearly 10% lighter and about 1mm thinner than the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, while adding a redesigned hinge, brighter displays, faster charging and a new HiLight notification system integrated into the camera visor. Google is positioning the device as its most sophisticated and durable foldable to date.
Pixel 11 Pro Fold Gets Thinner Design and New HiLight System
Google has reduced the weight and thickness of the Pixel 11 Pro Fold while also shrinking the bezels around the display. The device is available in Obsidian and Olive, depending on market availability.
One of the most visible additions is HiLight, which uses LED lighting around the camera flash to provide glanceable notifications.
The system can produce color-coded light signals for incoming calls from selected contacts and can indicate when the user is interacting with Gemini hands-free. Google said additional HiLight functions, including notifications for messages from favorite contacts, are planned over time.
Google Says New Foldable Is Three Times More Durable
Durability is another major focus of the Pixel 11 Pro Fold.
The phone retains an IP68 dust and water protection rating while introducing a glass-fiber composite rear cover, a new gearless hinge and a Super Actua outer display protected by ceramic cover glass.
Google says the combination makes the Pixel 11 Pro Fold three times more durable than the previous generation. The redesigned hinge also increases the bend radius of the inner display, which, together with a thicker glass layer, is intended to reduce the appearance of the foldable screen crease.
Both displays can reach peak brightness of 3,600 nits, representing a 20% increase from the previous model. The device features a 6.5-inch outer display and an 8-inch internal foldable screen.
Tensor G6 and 16GB RAM Power Gemini Intelligence
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold is powered by Google’s new Tensor G6 processor and includes 16GB of RAM, with the hardware designed around the company’s expanding Gemini Intelligence features.
Google has also expanded multitasking capabilities for the larger foldable display. Apps can be converted into floating bubbles positioned on the unfolded screen, while existing Fold features including Split Screen, Drag and Drop and Instant View remain available.
A new sign-to-text accessibility feature allows users to sign American Sign Language toward the front-facing camera and receive text translations on the outer display. Google said the feature was developed in partnership with the Deaf community and works with Live Transcribe and Gboard.
Pixel 11 Pro Fold Adds Faster Charging and New Camera Hardware
Charging performance has also been upgraded.
Google says 30W wired charging can replenish approximately 50% of the battery in around 30 minutes. The phone also supports up to 25W Qi2.2 wireless charging, which Google says is 20% faster than the previous Fold generation. Battery life is rated at more than 24 hours under Google’s testing conditions.
The camera system includes a new 48-megapixel main sensor alongside ultrawide and telephoto cameras, with up to 30x Super Zoom available. New Pixel 11-series photography features include Magic Capture and customizable Camera Looks.
Pixel 11 Pro Fold Hits Stores August 20
Google has opened pre-orders for the Pixel 11 Pro Fold today, with general retail availability beginning August 20.
The device is offered with 256GB, 512GB and 1TB storage configurations in the U.S. Google’s official store also lists promotional offers alongside the launch.
With the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, Google is combining improvements in durability and industrial design with a broader push to make Gemini-based AI features a core part of the Pixel hardware experience.
