The Hitachi Mississippi transformer factory will receive a $528 million investment and is expected to create more than 700 jobs. Hitachi (OTC: HTHIY) plans to build the facility in Gallman as part of a broader U.S. manufacturing expansion.
The plant will sit approximately 6.5 miles from Hitachi Energy’s existing Crystal Springs operation. At more than twice the size of the current facility, the new factory is designed to more than double transformer production capacity.
Hitachi Mississippi Transformer Factory Expands Critical Grid Capacity
Construction is scheduled to begin late in 2026, with production expected to start in 2029. Once the new facility is completed, transformer manufacturing will transition from Crystal Springs to Gallman.
