The company ended the quarter with $9.10 billion of Next-Generation Security annual recurring revenue, a 63% increase.

Remaining performance obligations rose 34% to $21.2 billion, providing visibility into contracted future revenue. Non-GAAP net income reached $853 million, or $1.02 per diluted share, compared with $673 million, or $0.95 per share, in the prior-year period.

Recurring Revenue Drives Palo Alto Networks Earnings

The Palo Alto Networks earnings report showed strong growth across Network and AI Security, Cortex and Idira. Management said the company added nearly $1 billion of net new Next-Generation Security ARR during the quarter as customers consolidated security functions on larger platforms.

The adjusted figures contrasted with a GAAP net loss of $282 million, or $0.35 per share, compared with GAAP net income of $254 million a year earlier. GAAP operating income fell to $172 million from $497 million, while non-GAAP operating income increased to $1.0 billion.

Operating cash flow rose to $1.4 billion, and adjusted free cash flow reached $1.3 billion. The company reported a 38.4% adjusted free-cash-flow margin for fiscal 2026, emphasizing its ability to fund investment while maintaining strong cash generation.

Fiscal 2027 Guidance Points to Continued Expansion

For fiscal 2027, Palo Alto Networks expects revenue of $14.10 billion to $14.20 billion, representing growth of 23% to 24%. Next-Generation Security ARR is projected at $11.075 billion to $11.175 billion, up 22% to 23%, while non-GAAP diluted EPS is expected to range from $4.16 to $4.19.

The company also forecast a 29.5% non-GAAP operating margin and a 38% adjusted free-cash-flow margin. First-quarter revenue guidance of $3.30 billion to $3.31 billion implies growth of 33% to 34%.

The Palo Alto Networks earnings outlook suggests that enterprise security spending remains resilient as AI increases both the complexity of attacks and the need to protect new workloads. The central investor question is whether rapid platform expansion and acquisitions can sustain recurring-revenue growth without widening the gap between GAAP and adjusted profitability.
