Cognizant (NASDAQ: CTSH) AI workforce plans call for the technology-services company to hire 1,500 U.S. college graduates and expand two AI-focused job categories to a combined 15,000 people, according to a company announcement released Monday.
Cognizant said it intends to recruit graduates through university relationships that include the University of Georgia, Arizona State University and the University of Kentucky. It also cited its role as a national program sponsor for registered apprenticeships with the U.S. Department of Labor.
Cognizant AI Workforce Roles Expand Alongside Graduate Hiring
The company said its Frontier Certified Engineer and Frontier Business Operator roles are currently funded positions and that university recruiting will be incorporated into their expansion. Cognizant also said its Synapse training program exceeded its initial target of training 1 million people, and it has raised its worldwide goal to 2 million people by 2030.
Cognizant said Chief Executive Ravi Kumar S has joined the advisory board of RAISE US, a worker-transition coalition that the company said was launched by former Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo and former Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb. The coalition aims to raise $1 billion for retraining, redeployment incentives and work-based learning programs, according to Cognizant. Those claims could not be independently verified.
The company also cited research produced with Oxford Economics estimating that AI could enable $4.5 trillion in U.S. labor productivity and add $1 trillion to the economy over the next decade. Those figures are research estimates, not established outcomes.
