The Nasdaq Payward investment will provide $100 million to the parent company of cryptocurrency exchange Kraken through Nasdaq Ventures. Nasdaq (NASDAQ: NDAQ) also expanded its technology relationship with Payward around tokenized equities and market surveillance.

The companies plan to continue building the operational and commercial infrastructure for Nasdaq Equity Tokens, with a targeted launch in the second quarter of 2027. The framework is intended to connect tokenized shares with Payward’s xStocks ecosystem.

The next phase will address distribution, trading and post-trade capabilities needed for broader use of tokenized equities. Payward will also adopt Nasdaq surveillance technology across trading venues covering crypto assets, equities, tokenized stocks, futures and options.

Nasdaq publishes partnership and corporate updates through its official investor news archive. The companies emphasized governance, regulatory compliance and market integrity, but tokenized-equity adoption will still depend on regulatory treatment and investor demand.

The Nasdaq Payward investment gives the exchange operator direct exposure to Kraken’s market infrastructure while supporting its own tokenization strategy. Execution risks include technical integration, legal requirements, liquidity development and competition from other digital-asset and traditional exchange platforms.
