NOVONIX Riverside Project Joins South Korea-U.S. Infrastructure Initiative

NOVONIX Limited (Nasdaq: NVX) said its Riverside synthetic graphite anode-material project in Chattanooga, Tennessee, has been selected for a South Korea-U.S. government-led infrastructure initiative. The program is designed to connect major U.S. projects with Korean companies, investors and potential strategic financing partners.

South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corporation introduced a selected group of U.S. projects at a seminar in Seoul on August 27. Riverside was among approximately ten projects identified through discussions between the U.S. and Korean governments.

What the NOVONIX Riverside Project Selection Could Unlock

The NOVONIX Riverside project selection creates a new channel for discussions with Korean construction groups, trading companies, financial institutions and public agencies. The Korean government has indicated that interested participants may receive support through coordinated “Team Korea” partnerships and KIND’s strategic-finance capabilities.

The announcement does not represent a binding investment or financing commitment. Korean companies will evaluate potential participation opportunities, while KIND and other agencies may help facilitate partnerships and funding. The commercial outcome will therefore depend on follow-up negotiations, project economics and the participants’ investment decisions.

Riverside is part of NOVONIX’s effort to build a domestic supply chain for high-performance synthetic graphite used in lithium-ion battery anodes. The material is strategically important for electric vehicles, energy storage and other battery applications, while global processing capacity remains heavily concentrated in China.

Battery Supply-Chain Strategy Gains a Korean Link

The infrastructure initiative matters because South Korean companies are major participants in the global battery industry and have been expanding manufacturing capacity in North America. A closer relationship with Korean industrial and financial partners could support Riverside’s development while aligning the project with broader U.S. efforts to reduce dependence on concentrated overseas supply chains.

NOVONIX has already positioned Riverside as a platform for North American synthetic graphite production. Inclusion in the program adds visibility with potential strategic partners, but investors will still need to monitor customer qualification, production ramp-up, capital requirements and the terms of any financing that emerges.

If the initiative produces concrete partnerships, the NOVONIX Riverside project could become a practical link between U.S. critical-minerals policy and South Korea’s battery-manufacturing ecosystem. Until those agreements are reached, the selection is best viewed as an opportunity to accelerate commercial engagement rather than as secured funding.
