The Envestnet acquisition of Vestmark will combine two wealth technology platforms as financial advisers seek more advanced trading, tax management and portfolio services. The companies did not disclose the financial terms of the definitive agreement.
According to the company-issued transaction announcement, Vestmark’s technology supports more than $2 trillion in assets and over five million investor accounts. Envestnet said its own platform covers approximately $8 trillion in assets and serves more than one-third of financial advisers across industry platforms.
Envestnet Acquisition Adds Trading and Tax Capabilities
Vestmark brings portfolio management, institutional trading, outsourced investment services and tax-transition tools. Envestnet expects those capabilities to complement its data, planning and investment infrastructure while creating a broader set of workflows for advisory firms.
The companies said their existing product roadmaps will continue and that clients will not be forced to migrate from current systems. That approach may reduce near-term disruption, although the strategic benefits will depend on how effectively the businesses integrate technology, sales and service operations over time.
The Envestnet acquisition is expected to close in the fourth quarter, subject to customary conditions. The deal reflects continued consolidation in wealth management technology as advisers face demand for personalized portfolios, tax-aware investing and scalable digital operations.
